Six Pounder a band from Iloilo started as one of the few new bands that make it to the top in Ilonggo radio stations. With humble beginnings as they entered battle of the bands in first quarter of 2000’s. It’s not pretty for a start. Have so many downfalls but in the end… They make it to the top in the Ilonggo radio stations. But still it’s not over. They will move on to the next level for the national league. Six Pounder is now looking forward to make another new track for recording. The band is still weighing there options for now. Six Pounder is under the record label Headtone Music Philippines. Tethany a popular heavy metal rock band based in Oton. Mostly their band members are from there. But they have some members living in the Southern part of Iloilo. The band first recorded there first single called Church Of Men (C.O.M.). it’s a heavy metal rock noise that mostly men wants to listen to. The second was entitle Wurmed (acoustic version). Wurmed was compose when one of the members was depress with a lot of things, in school, in friends and in family. But in the mits of problems that he had. He wrote a song. That on October 11, 2008 experience was a totally new and exciting events to cover. The three top premier DJ's of Iloilo in one solid night with Jason, Kreng and Leo and together with mc Dax on the mic. As of October 10, 2008, there is a new track release by Greyhoundz and send through our record label partner Headtone Music Philippines. Through a email made by one of the band member of the group. Mix FM Oton is once again pioneering the air waves of Iloilo to play "Shoot to kill" by the greyhoundz. Shoot to kill is included in ther new album called Execution Style and to be release this end of the month. Execution Style the album is the fourth album in eleven years since the third release.  Shoot to kill music video will soon be seen in your favorite music channels.

Diet Of Wormz

It was February 14, 2001, when the band “Diet of Wormz” started joining battle of the bands competition and small local gigs in all corners of Iloilo City. However, before they came together as a group all of them had different and diverse musical background. The band was then composed of vocalists Kelvin Kutz Didelez and Joel Ian Sajo, guitarists, Daniel Sarrosa and Melvon Posadas, Bassist Jerson Soledad and drummer Mark Abaygar. After roughly two years of playing the same old cover songs they got tired and decided to start writing their own songs. The first song they wrote was “Run for your life”.

Oton new mall

A new mall will open before end of October 2008 in Oton. It was finance by Rural Bank of Gumabal, Oton Branch in JC Zulueta St., Oton, Iloilo. The new mall will house the town house, fast food chains and department store.

The dept store is called CPT. One of Iloilo City’s cheapest dept store located at Iznart St. It will be the new hub on groceries of Oton and Southern Iloilo consumers. Also a rumor on the list to occupy is the leading fast food chain of the Philippines called Jollibee. We will know that this Halloween when it opens.

ABC 47 & TV5

The Associated Broadcasting Company recently change there flagship station ABC 5 to

TV5 last August 9, 2008. It’s unchanged since they return on February 21, 1992. The big change was made as they plan to digitalization before ending all analog channels before year 2015. But ABC is planning has already granted the permit to test and at there digital TV channel 47. On DTV channel 47 plans, they will call it as simply ABC Original. A DTV is a multi channeled TV, DTV47.1 will broadcast ABC Original while DTV47.2 will broadcast TV5. Many are still in the planning stage as they are looking for a new channel to have on the DTV47 channel.

Starting September 22, the airports in Iloilo Province and Silay City in Negros Occidental will increase their fees and rates of services, said Engr. Allan Java who manages the two airports of international standards under the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

1st Iloilo International Dragonboat Race Cup debuts in Dinagyang Festival 2009

Iloilo City will be host to the 1st Iloilo International Dragonboat Race Cup during the Dinagyang Festival 2009. The event is slated on January 22 and 23 and will be held in Muelle Loney (Iloilo’s River Wharf).

The Iloilo International Dragonboat Race Cup will surely be a crowd drawer during next year’s Dinagyang Festival and will be a good complement to the major highlights of the Dinagyang Festival, which will happen during the next two days after the event.
